For several years, Promise Keepers (PK) has given me the privilege of serving as a platform speaker for their annual men’s conferences. The majority of the time my messages centered on the theme of marriage and servitude. However, in 1999, in Charlotte, NC, they asked me to address the issue of men living pure lives in an ungodly culture. The message that immediately preceded mine was on salvation.
What the PK staff did not know when they gave me this assignment was that I had delivered this type of message numerous times at smaller church men’s events. This was an area of great concern for me because I experienced the bondage of sexual impurity years before salvation and even for a time after my conversion. An open door had allowed the enemy an opportunity to control me through the spirit of lust. Sound biblical teaching enabled me to attack that which had invaded my life and, ultimately, I attained my freedom.
